Opulent bright red in appearance, the nose gives lifted aromas of wild raspberries, cherries, and pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and vibrant acidity, showing notes of cranberries, cocoa, and herbs de Provence. Made from a blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Petit Verdot, and 20% Petite Sirah, that is very well integrated and balanced.

Anonimo Wine was founded in 2011 by winemaker Soren Christensen as a passion project to craft California wines influenced by Tuscan traditions. In 2020, Jim and Debi Saunders, long-time Paso Robles grape growers, acquired the winery. They continue to collaborate with Christensen, who remains the winemaker, to produce small-lot wines that reflect the region’s terroir. The winery focuses on Italian varietals such as Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio, sourcing grapes from family-farmed vineyards in Paso Robles. Their 2023 red blend, composed of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Petit Verdot, and 20% Petite Sirah, received a 93-point rating from James Suckling, highlighting its balance and vibrant acidity. Anonimo’s wines are produced in limited quantities, emphasizing quality and authenticity. The winery offers a tasting experience that showcases their commitment to traditional winemaking techniques and the unique characteristics of Paso Robles.

Yo… Thanks for this wine. The description is accurate and the wine is tasty. Like really, they nailed the tasting notes 100% . I’m buying a case. It’s yummy. My wife said, “it’s ok, no, wait, it was good.” High praise from Mrs connorbush

@wine69 eh maybe you’re new to the site, but they always just cite the price listed by the winery. Since you’re already holding a super computer it’s pretty easy to shop around if that’s important to you . Ultimately if you’re looking for somewhere to purchase wine, this site is nice for the easy to access discussion and lab rat reports. You can decide if this wine is worth 13.33 of your dollars.
@CruelMelody@wine69 and we can likely all agree that winery prices are often aspirational rather than the actual price people pay. It’s all about the prestige of being an expensive wine!

Quick look says wine spies had this recently in the $30 range?

88 points. Wild herbs, wet stones and crushed blackberries form an herbal bouquet as the 2023 Red Blend Anonimo wafts up from the glass. It’s soothingly round and supple with ripe red berry fruits and saline mineral tones. The 2023 finishes with medium length and a cedary concentration. Drinking Window 2024 - 2028. Sangiovese heavy blend, hmmmm. After trying the 2019 Muscardini Tesoro, I’m now very, very interested in California Sangiovese-heavy blends, because that was fantastic. Hmmmm.
Apologies for the delay, my son plays hockey and it can eat up a whole weekend at times. But on to the wine!
This is a ‘23 red blend from Paso Robles, there is no description on the label as to what varietals make up the blend. Alc per label is at 13.7%
Pulled the cork Sunday night after watching my son’s teams play all day and took some brief notes. The wine poured a medium red, with moderate color depth, the wine clear of any sediment.
The nose is very aromatic and youthful with notes of oak, bright cherries, eucalyptus and even a hint of mint. The palate is dry, medium bodied, moderate acidity, and minimal tannins. The wine was overall balanced with maybe a bit more oak showing than I prefer. The tasting notes are similar, maybe more raspberry than cherry.
I liked this wine quite a bit and if I was buying right now I might consider it, great QPR at the case price.
Not that I am hyper-focused on these things, but this is the first time I can recall Last Bottle and Casemates offering the same wine separated by a relatively short period of time. Back on 3/22/25 I bit on LB’s offer of this at $19, free shipping on 6 or more (I got 6). Price-wise, a statistical tie on less than a case, but a big win for CM if you go with a case.
@rjquillin I see we’re on Day 2 of this 2-day (I assume) offer, and it’s a bit early in the day for me to crack open a bottle, but maybe later I’ll do abbreviated rattage. Check back, everybody, just in case!
