Utah I expected, but the other seemingly sharp boundaries came as a total surprise, at least to me. As those between KS, OK and TX; then look at NV and green Vegas. And the N-S boundary of the Ohio river. What’s with WI!?
The colors do seem to overly emphasize smallish actual Δ%, but they still appear striking as presented.
Some may remember my Ar sparger I used, and still use, to backfill an open bottle. Well, I finally got around to fabricating an adaptor to connect my Argon cylinder directly to the Coravin for sampling. No more $10 capsules or $300 for some other solution. Unscrew the capsule handle, remove the piercing fitting and screw in the brass adaptor, connect to cylinder and enjoy 40 ft³ of gas for $100 and change. Leave the bottle under positive Ar pressure for what seems to be unlimited time. I’ve had a bottle with a pierced cork horizontal for nearly a month now with no seepage. Finally I can economically sample a bottle well before I’d even consider pulling a cork. Only took ~5 years of frustration to finally get around to it. The capsule handle cover now protects the needle when not in use.
@davirom Good news to me! I grow a lot of peppers in my garden. Like some thai peppers in the 70,000 SHU range, and also enjoying Scotch Bonnets (in the family of habanero at 100,000–350,000), as well as a number of others. I dry and grind them to enjoy throughout the year.
Planning on a dry January?

@rjquillin
As they say on That '70’s Show, “Hello, Wisconsin!”.

@rjquillin
That is truly awe-some. Well done!
(Only used the hyphen to prevent the filtered/automated response.)
@rjquillin
Nice! Can you Coravin a tank of Nitrous Oxide like this?
@chipgreen
Ok, this has a story waiting to be told.
@rjquillin
Haha, no it is a story waiting to be created. Fear & Loathing in San Diego.
I really should have also posted a pic of the whole rig in use.
and the sparger
Something like this really is easy and not that expensive to assemble and gives you almost total freedom to sample and preserve.
@davirom those are part of my standard diet!
@klezman Then you’ll probably live forever!
@davirom I wonder how many years I gained with my Szechuan dinner last night? (Though I’ll cop to skipping the hottest peppers.)
