You could possibly find a small number of people that would describe me as cool, but I would be very disappointed if someone described me as rude*. I was raised well, and take manners, social mores, and personal space very seriously. I would be very mad at myself if I were to act rude.
My reaction to others assholeness, self-cernternedness, anti-socialness is usually fairly over the top because of aforementioned aherence to rules, which can be construed by others as rude if they miss the initial transgression.
For example, someone is staring at their phone in the middle of the grocery store aisle blocking it with their cart. I put my cart in their peripheral vision. I give them a few seconds. I may even make a sound. If that fails, then I will absolutely ram their cart with more force than necessary causing a scene for others to look over where I would probably look like an asshole, yes. But not rude.
