Our new Dunstan 2023 Rosé is delightful. Light pink in color, this wine is crisp and refreshing with a fragrant bouquet of wild strawberry and citrus zest. On the palate, hints of tangy Rainier cherries mixed with grapefruit sorbet come through with a clean finish.
Made with 100% estate Durell Vineyard Pinot Noir. Direct to press. 6-months in neutral French oak barrels, no new oak.
In 2008, Ellie and Chris launched Dunstan Wines to showcase the stunning fruit from the storied Durell Vineyard. The two married and settled in Sonoma where, between harvests, Ellie campaigns for endangered wildlife while Chris continues to build a digital platform that has changed the way wineries do business. Since then, Dunstan has grown in stature but still remains small in production. Today, with the addition of Star Mooring Farm in the Willamette Valley, the Dunstan project is an expression of two distinct vineyards.
When we found an old horseshoe while planting the Ranch House Block at Durell Vineyard in 2005, we remembered the legend of Dunstan, the patron saint of blacksmiths who tricked the devil into making a promise to stay away, rendering the horseshoe a lucky charm for the rest of time. The horseshoe we found is etched on the Dunstan label, hopefully bringing good fortune to our vineyards and everyone who works the vines

@losthighwayz I did a double take at the MSRP simply because it wasn’t a round dollar amount. Boone’s Farm might use .99, but I generally thought the wine industry was “above that” consumer trickery. You know, like how fancy gastropubs don’t use punctuation or dollar signs, wineries use whole dollar MSRPs.
I am huge fan of Durell Vineyard Pinot Noir and Chard as I am a club member at Three Sticks, and will be curious if there are any rats on this Friday “Black Tie” limited production offer. Summer is coming and I need to stock up on porch sippers.

Hey! I just wanted to drop in and apologize to folks. I was sent a bottle to Lab Rat for this. It arrived on Wednesday, I think. We had planned an evening out that night (music trivia!) and so we planned to taste on Thursday evening and post the notes later that night.
Thursday afternoon, I ate something and then felt very queasy. About 6 PM, I began throwing up. I went to lay down and remembered the wine, so I texted charming Leo and asked him to taste it without me. I felt so nauseous (and to be a little TMI, I had food stuck in my sinuses or whatever and even after a shower I could only smell barf) that I knew I couldn’t taste.
Then I fell asleep. I woke in the morning just in time to throw on clothes and go to thing I had to attend, and THEN I was gone the rest of the weekend. So, not only was I not able to taste, but I couldn’t even take Leo’s very brief notes and turn them into a post. I had somehow hoped to do it from my cell phone late in the day, but saw someone posting it was only a 24 hour sale.
I did let Alice know when she emailed me about it – but I didn’t do that Thursday evening, because I was just feeling so gross.
Anyway, I’m sorry y’all didn’t get Lab Rat info about this. I still haven’t tasted it because I feel guilty seeing the bottle there. I can say that I was SUPER fricking excited about it because I’ve been into roses a lot lately, and the bottle was so pretty. Also, our UPS guy couldn’t find it on the truck initially (he was delivering two things but only had one in hand) and I was like, “You gotta go LOOOOOK again because it’s wine I’m reviewing and so he spent 10 extra minutes and finally found it.”
It was just one of those days, I guess. Anyway, that’s the thing.

2023 Dunstan Rosé of Pinot Noir
3 bottles for $54.99 $18.33/bottle + $2.67/bottle shipping
Case of 12 for $149.99 $12.50/bottle + $1/bottle shipping
I think $54.99 per bottle is a mistake. Website price is $36 which is more accurate imo
We are running low on rose and this sounds enticing
Rats?
@losthighwayz I was wondering about that. Thanks for checking.

Bottle-less rat here. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow…

Edit: Dang. I just noticed it’s a 24 hour sale.
@smittypap That happened last week, rat bottles delayed…
