Soft aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and hints of stone fruit as well as peach blossom and melon. Fresh entry on the palate with bright acid, ripe peach and strawberry with a smooth creamy finish.

We are good friends, Bob Zeches and Chad Richard, and this is a little bit about the history of Furthermore Wines. Friends and business partners since the early 90s, we began an exploration and education around wine together soon after we met, which continues to this day. Our shared tastes in wine have always centered around Pinot Noir, particularly from California and Oregon, and in 2006, when the opportunity arose, we created our first two barrels of wine – about 50 cases of Pinot Noir. The fruit came from the Bohemian Vineyard in Freestone, just a few miles from Nevina’s Vineyard, the estate vineyard in Occidental that we would eventually purchase in 2011.
Our mission back then was to begin conducting a long-term study of how Pinot Noir diversely expresses itself regionally throughout California, particularly in areas influenced by coastal climates. All these years later, it is still our main mission, producing Pinot Noir from vineyards up and down the California Coast as far south as the Santa Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County and as far north as the Yorkville Highlands in Mendocino County, including wines from our estate vineyards located in the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley AVAs. Although we’ve grown gradually over the years and now make more than just Pinot Noir, we are still a relatively small operation, making about 4,000 cases of hand-crafted wines annually.
In 2015, to support our modest growth and to establish a permanent home, we purchased a winery and vineyard located just north of Sebastopol at the corner of Gravenstein Highway and Vine Hill Road. This allowed us to consolidate our winemaking operations and establish our second estate vineyard, Graton Ridge Vineyard. It also began a new chapter for us with a comfortable space in beautiful West Sonoma County, allowing us to host guests in our tasting room or outside in our courtyard and bocce court.
The evolution of Furthermore continued in 2019, when Pinot Noir and Chardonnay virtuoso Ross Cobb took over winemaking at Furthermore, elevating the already exceptional wine program. Ross brings more than 20 years of notable winemaking experience working at many great wineries, including Williams Selyem, Flowers, and his family winery, Cobb Wines.
A few years later, in 2022, we opened a Tasting Lounge in Healdsburg where we enjoy pouring reserved tastings and wine by the bottle or glass for our guests, and also host great musicians there on weekends.

2024 Furthermore Rosé of Pinot Noir - $55 = 26.18%
As a wine enthusiast, I was pleasantly surprised by the 2024 Rosé of Pinot Noir from Furthermore Wines. The light blush color immediately stood out, giving it a delicate and inviting appearance that hints at its refreshing nature. Pouring it into a glass, I noticed its clarity and subtle sparkle, which set the stage for a relaxed tasting experience. This wine feels like a perfect choice for a warm summer day, especially when enjoyed outdoors with friends.
The first sip revealed a somewhat tart initial taste, which gave it a lively kick right from the start. This quickly softened as it settled, revealing delicate hints of strawberry that added a fruity sweetness without overpowering the wine. With an alcohol content of 11.5%, it’s light enough to enjoy over a leisurely afternoon without feeling overwhelming. The balance of flavors makes it incredibly approachable.
Overall, I found this Rosé to be light and refreshing, a quality that shines through from the first pour. It paired beautifully with some cheese, enhancing the experience with its crisp profile. Whether you’re new to wine or just looking for something easygoing, this bottle from Furthermore Wines is a great pick for casual moments, especially on a sunny day. I’d happily reach for it again.
Just noticed that RWS is selling the 2022. Here’s what RWS has to say about it:
The 2022 Furthermore Wines Russian River Valley Pinot Noir begins with a really beautiful and harmonious aroma of plum, black cherry, lots of cola and licorice, a little strawberry and baking spice plus a hint of rhubarb. It’s still a bit young at this point but that doesn’t prevent it from being quite expressive and attractive right after the first pop and pour!
Taking a sip reveals…yummy, yum, yum, this is really well done classic RRV Pinot Noir! It’s easy drinking and delicious with plenty of complexity that really comes out after a couple hours in the glass. Balanced, with good depth and acidity, this is just a beauty.
Featuring similar flavors to the nose plus some added black tea and a very smooth mouthfeel, it just keeps getting better the longer it is open. (In fact, it was just as good if not slightly better on day 2.) I love it, this is excellent again!
It ends dry and a bit tart and juicy on the vibrant, very, very long lasting and mouth-watering finish. We’ll put this one at the high end of our 9 Taste Rating at 92-93 points. Capable of aging for a decade or so, splurge away!
@Mark_L the wine on RWS is their red Pinot. Not the Rose we have here today. Which is also why it is double the price (and RWS deals are not as good as these) but yeah, same winery different wine.
@Mark_L@rjquillin@smoothie72 I’m so confused…I guess we’ve cleared up the fact that a 2022 red wine has absolutely nothing to do with a 2024 rose? Would that be fair to say? ha!
2024 Furthermore Rosé of Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley
Hi All,
Excited to be selected as a Lab Rat!
First to note is the color of the Pinot Noir rosé. It has a very light salmon color, almost resembling a white wine.
On the nose, the wife and I got light peach and a hint of melon. The palate races with acid, and the light peach and melon carry through. I didn’t notice the tartness that others noted, but that could have been because of the acidity.
Overall, it’s a lovely summer patio wine. I wouldn’t be a buyer at the winery pricing, but it is a nice value at the Casemates pricing.

@cgarthurs the 11.5 and 3.2 might put this in my wheelhouse… I like 'em with a little zip and from your notes sounds a little zippy?
@cgarthurs @kaolis
Sounds a little artificially intelligent, even.
@cgarthurs @chipgreen @kaolis agreed!
@chipgreen @kaolis thanks for that.
For me, it initially had a tart taste, as well as some of the other people I was tasting it with.
Sounds a bit tart for my household’s taste, but I’m intrigued by the concept! More along these lines in the future, please? Ideally with less acidity.
Interesting that this wine is now selling on RWS ($76.95 for 3). I think this is the first time I’ve seen the same wine as here at the same time.
