I grew up around there; well, Bay Area of CA. I do remember it being pronounced Soo-Soon by local weather TV and also my parents. I only recently heard it associated with wine production. Low altitude but warm days, often cool or even foggy nights: I think a good recipe for delicate white wine production. Not as hot as Central Valley which tends to yield too much fruit/sugar for me.
