2021 Kitek Sauvignon Blanc, Valle De Uco, Mendoza, Argentina
Tasting Notes
Bright yellow in color with subtle green tones. Citrus aromas of pink grapefruit on the nose, accompanied by scents of white peach and delicate herbal notes. It is very fresh on the palate with a good acidity level, which makes it an easy-drinking wine.

About The Winery
Kitek
The original inhabitants of Mendoza and San Juan were the Huarpes, a peaceful and working native community. They used to have a tradition of gathering around the fire (KITEK) for celebrations at night, where they drank and ate until dawn. They believed that the fire helped to warm the body, and the food and infusions helped to calm the soul. Inspired by the essence of this idea, we made this wine, which is reflected in this piece of art, a synthesis of colors, wood, music, elements that are related to the wine’s world.

2021 Kitek Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc - $40 = 24.23%
The WWC Wine Team sent me a bottle of the lovely 2021 Kitek Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc for LabRatting. Much appreciated after two weeks on the road!
The wine has a rich, golden color in the glass. A pretty glass! Aromas are big and bright, with green apple, mango, and green grass in the forefront.
On the palate, I’m experiencing zingy pineapple, fresh grapefruit zest, and a little tart apple. It’s bold, bright, and refreshing without being sharp. Helped me both perk up and wind down from some long days. It’s a lovely representation of the varietal. And it has enough age (2021) that it’s prime right now!!!
As I was sipping, I was thinking this could be a great summer-sipper for my patio evenings. The price point (less than $11 per bottle) for this very tasty SauvBlanc makes it a serious contender for my summer stock-up!!
@klezman Not really (I’m an hour south) but we might could make things work. Send me a text with the info! I’ll see who is close to National Harbor then.
@wine69 My feeling too. I do like Chile and Argentina dry white wines. But some used to be available at a local store we all know for $2.99 but have gone up a bit. Dependable. There have only been a few white wines/blends that have jumped out at me(in a good way) and would be from PNW or NorCal. (I don’t know enough to dabble in French or Italian wines in this category)
@pmarin@wine69 The “Case Savings” threads have absolutely nothing to do with the “typical from the winery” price. It only compares the savings of purchasing a full case at the Casemates price as compared to the price of the less-than-a-case (typically 2, 3, 4 or 6 bottles) allotment. For example, if the smaller allotment (costing SA) is 3 bottles and the full case (costing FC) is 12 (there are occasional other sizes) then the case savings (CS) is:
SA*4-FC
and the percent savings (PS) is:
((SA*4-FC)/(SA*4))*100
CS is displayed rounded to nearest dollar, PS is rounded to two decimal digits.
@Mark_L Please accept my apologies for misunderstanding. But my original point stands. This is 2025. Era of uneducated consumer is long over. There is no reason to put blatant lies in your sales pitch, especially from the website we all love so much.
@Mark_L@wine69 there was a lengthy discussion of this in the forum post for the red mystery case a few months back. The savings is based on msrp, which of course no one is paying.
@Mark_L@Ten9Eight It’s one thing to put these fictitious “MSRP Prices” on domestic wine. But $23 is around 25 K Argentinian Pesos. I’ve been to Mendoza. Just to put in perspective: 25K pesos for a bottle of white wine in Argentina is akin to $100 for a bottle of Poland Spring in US.
@Mark_L@Ten9Eight@wine69 True though that may be, it equally silly to claim that what an Argentinian pays for a local bottle has any bearing on US SRP as it is to say that a 20 Euro bottle of village Burgundy should have that as the reference price when its US SRP is $40. Regardless of whether you agree with that SRP.
Or an experience I’ve had myself - Kracher charges 30 Euros or so for their TBA wines. You want to buy one in the US at retail? It’ll cost you at least $50, if you can find a good deal. More likely $65+. So should I maintain that the “true” SRP is 30 Euros?
@klezman@Mark_L@Ten9Eight I understand what you are saying, but “Typically $23/bottle from Kitek” implies that $23 is what you buy it for if you were to buy directly from/at the winery. And all I’m saying that is completely misleading. Who came up with $23? If we all agree that the number is completely bogus, why not say “Typically $250/bottle from Kitek”.
@Mark_L@Ten9Eight@wine69 Because WD is an honest person. You can certainly find this wine for a similar price all over the internets, but that’s common enough for wines that have distribution that also appear here. You’re welcome to find it misleading if you like, but they work hard to keep things honest. That doesn’t mean they’re perfect, of course, but they’re fundamentally honest.
Unlike, say, WTSO who had to pay millions in a class action settlement and change their advertising because of deliberately misleading people on SRP and such.
And I’ll nitpick that “directly from” and “directly at” the winery mean completely different things when you’re talking about a foreign winery.

Thank you @casemates, @Winedavid49, and Kitek for the tasting opportunity!
@cjsiege heya! I’ll be in National harbor for a night soon. Is that your neighbourhood?

“Typically $23/bottle from Kitek”
I call BS on this one! Which makes these “how much are you saving by the case” posts completely meaningless.
I promise you no one in their right mind is paying $23 for a bottle of Argentinian Sauvignon Blanc.
