This proprietary red blend is crafted with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Zinfandel, 18% Syrah, 8% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Petite Sirah. With a captivating dark red hue, this full-bodied red wine dazzles the senses the moment it hits the glass. On the nose, the fresh aromas of wild berries are interlaced with nuances of fresh lavender, dark chocolate truffle, baking spices, and cigar box. As the profile expands on the palate, the generous flavors of ripe blackberry, blueberry, dark cherry, and fresh currants are layered with hints of cocoa, cassis, allspice, and wild sage. The plush and velvety texture, bright acidity, fine tannins, and firm structure make this a beautiful wine to enjoy now, or age in your cellar. Pairs well with blue cheese, wild mushroom risotto, slow-roasted pork with creamy herb sauce, garlic-crusted rack of lamb, and grilled steaks with chimichurri sauce.

With a focus on tradition and family, relationships are at the heart of Muscardini Cellars, and at that heart’s core are the relationships that proprietor, Michael Muscardini has cultivated in the vineyards with the growers he receives phenomenal fruit from every year. Michael Muscardini’s passion for Old World varietals extends beyond crafting exceptional Sangiovese, Barbera, Brunello-style vintages and Super Tuscan-style wines, Muscardini Cellars wine conjures up a la dolce vita celebration which reflects Michael’s indefatigable tasting and lifestyle research on his sojourns to Italy.
Michael has forged deep relationships with Sonoma growers since founding Muscardini Cellars more than fifteen years ago. These close ties have established consistent sourcing of some of the area’s finest fruit in pursuit of superb Italian blends and non-Italian varietals met with an Italian winemaking approach. The results of these collaborations have been nothing short of extraordinary.
Michael Muscardini founded Muscardini Cellars to celebrate family, fellowship, and the storied Italian culture. Inspired by his grandfather and frequently extended holidays to Tuscany, Michael Muscardini remains committed to blazing his own trail, crafting highly regarded single vineyard varietals and robust Italian blends.

2019 Muscardini Fortuna Red Blend - $100 = 25.63%
Reverse Wine Snob offered this as a two pack “Saturday Splurge” with the '19 Cab in November:
…two absolutely lovely, deep, serious wines…
The 2019 Muscardini Fortuna opens with a very enticing bouquet full of rich, succulent dark berry fruit along with well-integrated baking spice, some lovely aromatic floral notes and touches of vanilla. The aromas become particularly savory and deep after it has some time to breathe.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth and silky, complex, well structured and with great balance, depth and acidity. The flavors are similar to the nose with all those same touches and then some. It is at its best after a few hours of air so give it time to breathe.
It ends dry, a bit chalky and grippy on the very long finish and was similar on day 2. Truly an excellent blend, this is a really delicious, serious wine. Taste: 10 (94+ points) Cellar Selection.
Sorry for the delay in posting, had a bunch of early morning meetings, so I could not post until now.
Initial impression when unboxing: This bottle is heavy. Nice screen printed label on the bottle.
I did an initial PnP while pairing this with some prime rib.
Color is a very dark purple and completely opaque, even around the edges.
The weather has been going oscillating like crazy near me, so I’m completely congested. I can’t detect much of a nose, but that is me, not the wine.
On the palette, this wine goes through three or four changes from initial taste to the finish. It starts with some black pepper to currants to black berries and finally white pepper. There are notes of sage throughout. It is a ride, when newly opened. I held back a glass until the following day and the wine was much more integrated without the big jumps in taste, although the primary notes were the same. For this reason, I think it might be best to sit this one down for a bit longer or at least give it some time to rest to let the bottle shock subside.
My overall impression is that this is what you really want in a red blend. It has a variety of notes that complement each other well. You can tell they didn’t skim on effort for this bottle.
At $24/bottle, this is a steal if you have space. I personally don’t, so I’m contemplating getting the two-pack.
I’ll check in periodically, in case anyone has any questions.
Hello All! Lab Rat reporting for duty! I received an email Wednesday from Alice saying we had a bottle of wine on the way! The shipment was redirected to a UPS pickup point, but some moderate frustration ensued and luckily I was home on Friday when the bottle was finally delivered.
Opening the package, we found a bottle of 2019 Muscardini Fortuna! We placed the room temperature bottle in the wine cellar for a day and a half to let it rest some after 3 days in the back of the brown truck.
The first impressions of the wine are positive with a nicely weighted bottle and attractive label.
The rear label indicates an eclectic mix of varietals, and I am guessing this is in an Italian style judging from the winery’s other offerings.
We are not familiar with Muscardini but have driven past the winery during visits to Sonoma. Generally speaking, my spouse and I enjoy old world and restrained styles of wine. We quite enjoy Italian wines but generally go for Barolo or Barbaresco. We do enjoy Bordeaux style blends, and typically like dry red wines with 10+ years of age on them, so we were excited to see a few years in bottle here.
We let the wine warm up from cellar temp for a couple hours and popped and poured into universal glasses with the wine in the low 60s F. The wine has a natural cork with a little bit of creep and smells fantastic.
The wine is clear and dark red with some slight signs of sediment and becoming lighter towards the edge but no bricking. Viscosity is quite high.
The nose gives lots of dusty fruit, mostly cherries and blueberries, and a little sweetness. The wine is very primary with a very slight hint of vanilla. The first sip is very tart! The palate gives a ton of tart red cherries and has tannins present but quite balanced with the acidity. The finish is long at over 30 seconds and has some minerality and lingering acidity which makes you want to keep sipping.
Swirling the wine does not reveal much else at this point. The taste is tight with very tart cherries and the acidity is starting to overwhelm the rest of the flavors. We poured ourselves a glass, poured ¼ of the bottle into a decanter to see how it evolves, and corked the remaining half bottle for tasting on day 2.
After a 1 hour decant, the nose remains dusty with a lot of cherries but has become much more integrated. The palate has mellowed out and is now showing some cocoa along with the previous cherry and blueberry notes. The acidity is still at the front but integrates nicely with the tannins and continues to make you want to take another sip. A very slight amount of astringency shows up at the end of the finish.
Overall, this is a very well-made bottle of wine, and I would expect it to sell for $50+ in stores. Although we did not pair with food, I could see it pairing very well with a wide variety of dishes. I would not hesitate to buy at the Casemates price if this is your style of wine!
Thank you, Alice, David, and the team, for sending us a bottle! Let me know if there are any questions!
@knlprez The wine was very good on day 2! Everything integrated nicely and it became very smooth. The nose in particular was outstanding with some cherry cola, baking spices, and a bit of dust. The palate was very enjoyable with cherries still being the main flavor, but much less tart than day 1, and cocoa and other baking flavors rounding out the profile. The acidity and tannins were balanced and the finish long and pleasant. I would think this wine has at least 5 years of aging potential, or drink now with a couple hour decant.
@jblazejd The wine was quite tart even after the decant, but it wasn’t overpowering and integrated well with the tannins and fruit. It definitely needed a little air to come together though. The other rat @kookie00 didn’t mention the tartness, so maybe it was my bottle?
@jblazejd@kookie00 On day 1 this was one of the most tart red wines my wife and I have had, but it balanced out on day two. If you are adverse to tartness I think this wine would not be a winner for you, at least from my tasting.

@kaolis I don’t know the exact price of the two pack but the RWS write up mentions $36 off the suggested retails of $72 and $75…

Did the tartness go away after some decanting? I’m interested in buying this wine, but I do not like tart flavors in my wine whatsoever. Thanks!

@jblazejd @knlprez Wish I had some more to confirm or deny this, but I didn’t think it was overly tart. All red wine is to some degree IMO.
@jblazejd @kookie00 On day 1 this was one of the most tart red wines my wife and I have had, but it balanced out on day two. If you are adverse to tartness I think this wine would not be a winner for you, at least from my tasting.
I’m in for a case, thanks @kookie00.

This is a 2019 wine bottled in Feb. 2023. So I assume this spent over 3 years in barrels!
@TimW and is their most recent vintage of this blend
Anyone in Denver buying? I would take a couple bottles if so!
