2025 Pedroncelli Giovanni and Giulia Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley
Tasting Notes
Intense aromatics and ‘very varietally correct’ sums up this wine. The bouquet sets the stage with brilliant Sauvignon Blanc aromatics: passionfruit, pineapple and guava, bright citrus notes (lemon, lime, grapefruit) and finally fresh cut grass. The flavors are bright and intense with tropical and citrus notes from the aroma, featuring flavors of honeydew melon, peach, tangerine, and tart pineapple. Light-bodied with a long and refreshing finish. Please enjoy it upon release or within a year or two as no aging is required.
Dry Creek Valley has a strong pedigree for distinctive Sauvignon Blanc, and we have found the grape perfectly suited to our soils, sun, and sense of place. Named for founders Giovanni and Giulia Pedroncelli, this wine is a harmonious duet that balances bright, distinctive varietal character. Two blocks from our East Side Vineyard were picked about a week apart to capture both grassy freshness and a tropical fruit core, while the nearby Woods Vineyard adds additional tropical complexity. Planted near Dry Creek in well-drained soils, these sites mirror some of the world’s best Sauvignon Blanc vineyards.
Winemaking
A mild, balanced growing season produced high-quality fruit with excellent flavor, concentration and acidity. A wet and mild winter was followed by a mild summer with fewer heat spikes than normal, allowing for consistent and gradual ripening. The ideal weather conditions set the stage for an outstanding 2025 vintage. De-stemmed and crushed grapes are pressed, and the juice is transferred to stainless steel fermenting tanks to cold soak for 24/48 hours. Then inoculated with selected yeast and slowly fermented at about 56 F in temperature-controlled tanks to keep all varietal flavors. The wine is bottled soon after harvest bringing the vintage’s freshness to the glass.

For nearly a century, the Pedroncelli family has been crafting exceptional wines in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley. It all began in 1927 when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased a vineyard and a small winery west of Geyserville; two elements have remained unchanged since then - the exceptional place the Pedroncelli family farms their vineyards and their dedication to creating fine wines.
For nine decades, the Pedroncelli family has been producing wines of the highest quality, tradition and heritage. Their commitment to excellence and their family-run business make them a trusted source of great wines - enjoy them with confidence.

@losthighwayz I don’t read CT before writing a labrat report but saw your comment. I did not get bready, yeasty notes on this wine. It did have some effervescence so perhaps that played into the CT note. It did not taste like beer.
We often talk about the “Mt. Rushmore” producers on Casemates, the wineries that are so tied to the brand they become part of its DNA. Pedroncelli is squarely on that short list. What a treat it was to sample a rare white wine offering from this legendary producer that has been making wine in CA for almost a century. Let’s get to it!
We received the wine with plenty of time to let it rest and be sampled over a couple of days. I’ve had plenty of Ped over the years, from their traditional offerings to Casemates themed bottles. But I had yet to try their Sauvignon Blanc. It was time to dig in.
On twist and pour, traditional SB aromas waft out of the glass. I get a nose of tropical fruits: mango and passion fruit were center stage. On the palate I was immediately hit with some very light effervescence that faded slightly but persisted to day two. I did not find it off-putting but YMMV. A solid Mollydocker shake would probably take care of that. I also noted a very slight hint of bitterness on the back of the palate which I found to be quite pleasant. Flavors mirrored the nose with tropical fruits dominating.
On night one we brought the bottle to our sushi local. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it to be a good match. It felt overpowered by the soy sauce and other strong flavors we threw at it. I was curious to see the acid numbers and wasn’t shocked to see the pH a bit higher than I would expect for a SB. On its own it was a totally different story. We found it to be a very nice late summer sipper, light and refreshing. Very little changed on day two. The nose and flavor profile was close to a carbon copy of day one.
I see this as a very solid, warm weather cocktail wine that would go well with gatherings or a relaxing evening on the patio. We didn’t get a chance to try this with a lighter meal, but wonder how it would work with a mild, flaky fish uncomplicated with bold sushi flavors.
I was curious to see the price and was pleased to see it at around $12/bottle for a case. We all know that Pedroncelli is Italian for QPR. If you like Sauv Blanc, I can’t see you could go wrong with this one. Thanks to WD, Terry and the great folks at Pedroncelli for the opportunity.

Paging Mr Wilfred, Wilfred Wong of wine dot com…90 points.
The 2025 Pedroncelli Giovanni & Giulia Sauvignon Blanc displays a light straw-green hue and opens with inviting aromas of fresh kitchen herbs accented by a delicate floral lift. Crisp and refreshing on the palate, it offers bright flavors of peach skin and subtle mineral notes that bring energy and definition. The wine finishes clean and vibrant, with a pleasing brightness that makes it both approachable and highly enjoyable. Pair it with grilled Pacific halibut topped with a lemon-herb butter sauce or a fresh Dungeness crab salad. (Tasted: May 30, 2025, San Francisco, CA)
Mr Jim, Mr Suckling…90 Points. Aromas of grapefruit and lemons with green apples and herbs. Bright acidity on the midweight palate leads to a fresh, clean finish. Drink now. Screw cap. March 2026
Mr Ken? Ken’s Wine guide? 89 points, 89+. This clear and pale straw-colored Sauvignon Blanc from Pedroncelli opens with a gooseberry bouquet with hints of lychee and asparagus. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and a bit zesty. The flavor profile is a green bell pepper and tangy white grapefruit blend with notes of white pepper and lime zest. I also detected hints of tonic water and chalky minerality. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger nicely. I would pair this Sauvignon Blanc with a mushroom and asparagus risotto. Enjoy - Ken June 2026

Snobby Backwards Wine person…The 2025 Pedroncelli Giovanni & Giulia Sauvignon Blanc opens with a pleasing aroma full of lemongrass, some tropical fruit, a little pear and citrus and touches of herbal notes. It’s a very nice start that is distinctively Sauvignon Blanc!
Tasting the light-bodied wine reveals it to be refreshingly easy to drink with good depth on the fruit, plenty of acidity and a vibrant, lively mouthfeel. It features similar flavors to the nose with a few more tropical notes and some honeydew melon in the mouth.
The wines ends crisp, dry, long and refreshing with lingering citrus and tropical fruit plus a touch of sea salt minerality. Uber delicious, easily quaffable and plenty of complexity – this is not an easy combination to pull off but this wine succeeds admirably. March 2026
Spectator in the house? Yep! 88 points. This is bright, with Key lime zest and mâche notes that are carried by a blitz of crunchy acidity. Drink now. 8,000 cases made.

2025? Also, the CT note is interesting. Beer? Yeast? Waiting for rats

@hscottk @losthighwayz A current vintage SB? Heart be still…ha!

@hscottk Thanks for the report…sounds tasty but as someone who prefers SB on the zippier side, I’m assuming this isn’t in the wheelhouse
@hscottk @kaolis I read the review as this being a zippy SB
@hscottk @losthighwayz higher ph = less acidity particularly given the low TA on this wine…together those numbers tell me not so zippy
