Trader Joes Bubbly: North Coast x2, lot 127, and lot 128
1Went into Trader Joe’s last week to try this years North Coast white and rosé sparkling wines ($9.99). The white was good - middle of the pack for this wine compared to previous years. I haven’t tried the rosé yet.
I saw they had sparkling platinum reserve wines for $14.99 each. One that was lot 127, one that was lot 128 - I didn’t look for more details. Anyone tried them, or seen reports on them? I checked reverse wine snob, but nothing there. Does Trader Joe’s guarantee cover the wine?

I had the rosé last night. I found it to be the same as previous years - just uninspired in any direction. It is fine, but it isn’t something I will buy again.
The white is something I stock up on for the year. I think it has some interesting flavors, and a very solid value at $10.
@bdb in the past I’ve found the rosé infinitely better than the white. I’m up to my eyeballs in all wine at the moment, but I’ve always appreciated the QPR of the Trader’s bubbly.

I am also a much bigger fan of the Rose than the Brut. Have not tried the Reserve bottlings but noticed them for the first time last year.

Interesting that you both have liked the rosé more than the white. It leaves me questioning my tasting skills! I have tried some $20-$40 rosé sparkling wines at tastings that I have liked a lot. And the TJ’s emma reichart (sp?!) is a go-to for me. Clearly I may be missing something with the north coast rose. I’ll give it another try and pay more attention to it.
To anyone else reading, I would say that it may be that I happen to like what the white delivers, and others don’t. But I do like it!
Does the TJ’s satisfaction policy extend to wine?

Everyone has different tastes. Nothing wrong with liking the Brut better! I tend to favor sparkling Rose in general but it just depends on the wine. I also tend to favor the BdNs over the BdBs, which I assume is the inspiration for your screen name? The Brut wines I like best seem to be the pricier ones like Bollinger and Taittinger.
@chipgreen
I do not know of these BdB or BdNs… Can you tell me what they stand for, so I can ask the great duck?
edit: Oh, I got Blanc de Blanc. And then Blanc de Noir. Never had a BdN, I don’t think.
The letters bdb are my initials.
Similarly, I used to buy BiBs, which are “Bag in Box”, a plastic bag of soda syrup in a cardboard box that you connect to a soda machine. But that was back in the day when I helped out the refreshments committee at my school.
@bdb
That reminds me. I’d like to get a soda stream and create my own Frankensparklers.

Back in the 60’s, we used one of these , a Soda King
@bdb @chipgreen @rjquillin Back in the old OLD days, known as 2¢ plain.

Always thought I should get one of those. I like the idea of the soda stream, but not the proprietary system.
[side note, I use CO2 cartridges to keep my beer growler pressurized. Be sure to buy food grade - the ones sold for filling tires (almost always) have oil contamination in them - not healthy. I buy mine from some place with red in the name.]
