Farmed sustainably in the El Pomar District of Paso Robles, the vineyard location is a perfect example of the diurnal temperature shifts that Paso Robles is known for, with warm days and
evening cool, marine breezes from the Templeton Gap. The soils are a mix of loam, clay, and limestone, providing excellent drainage and ideal growing conditions.
With a mid-Fall harvest, the fruit was whole cluster pressed and fermented in a mix of stainless steel drums and neutral French oak 225L barrels. The wine was aged on lees for 4 months prior to bottling in April 2025. Crafted by winemaker Jeremy Leffert.
Tasting Notes
Aromatically, the 2024 Vigo Picpoul Blanc releases Meyer lemon, sage, and peach in the glass. Texturally, the wine is moderately rich framed by refreshing acidity and freshness. The flavor profile is driven with tropical notes like passion fruit and mango with a halo of lemon and mandarin orange.

Vigo Cellars is a family-owned, artisan winery dedicated predominately to Rhone-style wines. Vigo’s first release was a single vineyard Syrah from the Avila Valley in the San Luis Obispo Coast AVA, with the portfolio later expanding to include Picpoul Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Grenache.
With a focus on the crafting of small lots, Vigo Cellars utilizes new world winemaking techniques as well as time honored, old-world methods to express each vineyard’s terroir, while highlighting the varietal’s characteristics.
Named “Vigo” as a tribute to the Rodrigues family heritage, the brand embodies the spirit of adventure. With a journey that began in the Galicia region of northwest Spain, and included travels to Argentina, the Hawaiian Islands and San Francisco, California, the Rodrigues family settled in the San Joaquin Valley in the late-1930’s, farming vineyards and almonds. Three generations later, we are continuing this quest with Vigo Cellars – artisan crafted wines from select vineyards in the Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo Coastal and Santa Barbara County wine growing regions.
Seek adventure, follow your dreams and enjoy a fabulous glass of Vigo Cellars wine with family and friends!

I received my Labrat bottle of Vigo Chenin Blanc 2025 Paso Robles Highlands District in good condition with no delivery issues such as an excessive ambient temperature. Thank you, Terry for the heads-up the day before delivery.
I put it in the fridge for a day or so, before popping the cork to enjoy a wee taste with my lunch of leftover birthday pizza. (I did remove the candle.) Sorry, no first sip epicurean repast to pair with this offering. But it worked well enough to get a good sense of this wine’s character. Later, I had another small glass with a light supper of Sambar, Medu Vada, Uttapam, and Naryial (coconut) chutney along with Aloo, Brinjal Curry over basmati rice. It worked well there with the heavy aromatic spices and heat.
A golden, pale, crystal clear, light wine, my first impressions were of subtle fruit, moderate, but noticeable acidity and minimal minerality with little to no alcohol taste, even though it is 12.5%ABV. I get a hint of green apple, but no lingering finish nor any fruity or floral sweetness. In other words, I found it to have high natural acidity, restrained fruit flavor, and a lean structure.
It really worked well against the extra cheese I added to my pizza and with the Indian Vegan dishes. I believe it would pair especially well with a rich seafood dish.
To my mind, it was the perfect cool, crisp, palate cleanser that makes food more enjoyable. That said, this is not a wine that I would choose first as a daily sipper, but one that I would proudly serve to guests with either a formal or an informal meal.
I did not get a photo of the bottle nor the Casemates glass from which I quaffed my libations as my cell phone is on the fritz–I hate when that happens—as its replacement isn’t due to arrive until midweek.
