This really crept up on me this year. I’m not looking for anything specific. I’m actually trying not to buy much wine these days. I may allow myself 1-2 purchases and am always open to suggestions!
@karenhynes I’ve cut back on buying as well, but I’ll make an exception for Erica Orr. Apart from that, I wasn’t planning to buy anything I got last year. Except maybe some Riesling from Apollo’s Praise in the FL, I liked what I got from them last year. Apart from that, several of the newbies look intriguing. I’ll have to exercise a lot of restraint. Or not.
@karenhynes@klezman@rjquillin@ScottW58 This year, I’m feeling at peace, very unusual for the eve of BD. I snagged the Orr and a couple of others, had a chance to preview what else is coming up tomorrow, got my blinders ready, and I’m good!
@InFrom
Well I suck down olive oil like water and I love Nola’s but I found a guy on the other board who imports some oil from Chainti and wine that I think is as good or better. Now I say that with love after meeting her and her daughter at Morgan ranch last year, I will continue to buy hers but I think she might not be able to import much oil or fish due to the current world market etc? Not too mention as fast as I consume I currently have a lot! Anyone wants to know where to get the Italian stuff let me know.
No buying for me this year. And when I say no buying, I mean there will be a certain amount…. More than I care to admit. I see a few bags of Dicks in my future at the very least.
Picked up Fidelitas CS and Malbec Pkg. Hoping to show some restraint today when all of the offers post. Like many here, I don’t “need” any more wine. Maybe I should just put away the CC’s.
What I bought yesterday:
Half a case of Orr – 3 of the Chenin, and three of the Merlot blend. That was the only one I’ve had before.
Mixed 6 of whites from Day, a newbie this year.
Half case of Assyrtiko from Perlegos, they were newbies last year, but are new to me. Three bubbles, three still.
3-bottle sampler from Shiba Wichern, that’s one I always had meant to try.
If Apollo’s Praise continues its sale through the weekend, I’ll likely pick up a 3-pack of their dry Riesling tomorrow. That would bring me to a neat two cases – down a case from last year.
@InFrom@ScottW58 Ah yes. Honestly, my heart wasn’t really in it this year and didn’t read through most of the offers. Ended up with Dick’s and Flannery. Like most of you, I have more than enough wine to keep me going for the foreseeable future.
six pack of Six Cloves
Elkhorn The Sheriff & The Outlaws 3-Pack
A case from Day Wines, 6 white and 6 mystery
Case from Sabelli-Frisch
The Roundtrip Picks from Paper Planes
Royal Slope and some Chenin from Orr
Likely something else I forgot and others I just missed.
Flannery: the bit hurt; over 120# (some are gifts)
Soooo…I managed to come out unscathed. After vacillating between various offers for several hours, I closed my computer and went to bed. Nothing for me this year. Not a single bottle, steak, or chip.
@user77001325 I’ve never tried Chiron. I liked the Mourvedre I got here from Prima Materia a couple of years ago, so I bought sixes of Italian varietals from him the next couple of BDs. Still working on them, so I decided to skip him this year.

@karenhynes
Pino is sure popular on BD, at least it has seemed that way.
@rjquillin
Very true!

@InFrom @karenhynes I have to say I’m pretty tempted by that damn Orr Chenin.
@karenhynes @ScottW58 That was the first thing I got today.
I bought way too much, and I’m still looking at Apollo’s Praise, but still I’ve got about a case less than last year. Progress, right?
@InFrom @karenhynes @ScottW58 several tempting offers again. Aside from Goodfellow I’m not yet sure if I’m actually going to bite on any.
@InFrom @karenhynes progress is always good!
@klezman Your restraint is admirable.
@InFrom @klezman @ScottW58 @rjquillin
It’s only preview day and I’m already experiencing sensory overload.

I want and need nothing, we will see how that goes.
@ScottW58 No tinned fish and olive oil?
@InFrom

@InFrom @ScottW58 What is this other board you of which you speak?
@InFrom @jmdavidson1 @ScottW58
Berserkers?
@InFrom @jmdavidson1 @rjquillin yes
@InFrom @jmdavidson1 @ScottW58
could you link us in to the thread?
@InFrom @rjquillin @ScottW58 or which vendor presuming your referring to Berserker day
@InFrom @jmdavidson1 @rjquillin
Not a Berserker day item, he had posted it in commerce corner. Here is the link, it’s great stuff imho.

i’m looking hard at the coffee sampler. i do love my local roaster who does also has very exclusive and unique processed beans, but…
@radiolysis I’ve bought them since 2019, skipped 24 & 25 but just bought one today. Always interesting coffes with a back story.
@catcoland solves that problem – sold out by the time i found time to buy. yay!
So far Nola’s oil and Flannery hangers…that’s probably it
@kaolis Impressive restraint!
@klezman need wine like hole in head…oh wait, I have one of those ha!
Got some Elkhorn Peak, Goodfellow, and the German bubbly. Might regret not going in on more Cabot.
Just 4 packs of Sandler Pinot and Desire Evangelho for me - not tried the later before.
Case of Day wines rose
Case of Sabelli MilkFed Red blend
Case of mixed Sun Break Pinot
Case of Stars and Dust mixed reds
Contemplating Arabilis and Sander and Hem Pinots

Half case of Orr Chenin great stuff, 6 pack of Champagne and a boat load of beef. So much for buying nothing
@ScottW58 What champagne? Must have missed that.
@hscottk Jason from Stereophonic always has a Champagne room and wines from around the world. I’m guessing he is an importer or wholesaler ?
@hscottk @ScottW58 I see he has a pack to go with mass quantities of meat, and one to go with fried chicken. He knows his audience for sure.
@InFrom @ScottW58 Ah yes. Honestly, my heart wasn’t really in it this year and didn’t read through most of the offers. Ended up with Dick’s and Flannery. Like most of you, I have more than enough wine to keep me going for the foreseeable future.
@hscottk @InFrom @ScottW58 I didn’t even get Flannery since we don’t have freezer space.
@InFrom @klezman @ScottW58 We just bought a small, upright freezer at Costco and the timing couldn’t have been better!
@hscottk @InFrom @ScottW58 that’s the freezer that’s full
@InFrom @klezman @ScottW58
6 Walter Scott, 6 Patricia Green, 3 Royer 548.
Patricia Green and Goodfellows. Guess I have a type.
six pack of Six Cloves
Elkhorn The Sheriff & The Outlaws 3-Pack
A case from Day Wines, 6 white and 6 mystery
Case from Sabelli-Frisch
The Roundtrip Picks from Paper Planes
Royal Slope and some Chenin from Orr

@rjquillin 120+ pounds of beef?! Wow
@klezman
There was some lamb and pork mixed in
@rjquillin If they’d had the lamb riblets I would have bit on some of those.
Soooo…I managed to come out unscathed. After vacillating between various offers for several hours, I closed my computer and went to bed. Nothing for me this year. Not a single bottle, steak, or chip.
@karenhynes

I’m proud of you!
I managed to do the same. Barely.
I bought a couple 3 packs from Chiron, both Napa Valley Cabs one 3 of his black Powder Cab and 1 of his Reserve. Cab.
Then i bought a 6 pack of Prima Materia Lake county italian varietals mix!
@user77001325 I’ve never tried Chiron. I liked the Mourvedre I got here from Prima Materia a couple of years ago, so I bought sixes of Italian varietals from him the next couple of BDs. Still working on them, so I decided to skip him this year.
