Have you ever considered mixing apple cider and wine?

OK, I didn’t actually do it myself, but a couple of years ago I bought a tasty aperitif from Spain called Alma de Trabanco, Quinquina en Rama. The bottle doesn’t specify what wines it’s made from. Made in Spain, purchased in Maine.
