Both elegant and earthy, our 2022 Lone Tree Cabernet Franc has a beautiful garnet hue in the glass. Notes of raspberries and roasted coffee beans mingle with graphite and a slight hint of herbs on the nose. Flavors of black currants and juicy plums are layered with a graphite earthiness and medium-weight tannins to create a velvety texture on the palate.

The 2022 Hearst Ranch Winery “Lone Tree” Cabernet Franc, Paso Robles did not disappoint! I decided to explore this wine in two separate sessions. First right out of the bottle and second after ~60 minutes in a decanter.
Upon first glance in the glass (and decanter) the Lone Tree Cab Fran had a purity to its deep red color. Right out of the bottle, the nose was bright and clean with notes of fresh berry fruit and rocky soil. It was truly inviting (I was getting a distant sawdusty smell that was fun, as well).
On the first taste, my immediate thought was “this is a really well made wine!!” Lone Tree Cab Franc has a zesty flavor with great acidity and structured tannins. I was getting a little sour cherry, vanilla bean, and a slight hint of rosemary…and it all combine into a wonderfully long and refreshing finish.
After letting the wine open up for ~60 minutes in a decanter, the vanilla and baking spice scents really came to life. The taste smoothed out into a more balanced version of its 1-hour younger self. The taste of cherry and herbs lingering nicely on the finish.
My overall opinion of Hearst Ranch Winery’s 2022 “Lone Tree” Cabernet Franc, Paso Robles is: BUY IT! Buy a few, this delicious bottle is drinkable now or you can lay some down to enjoy later. I saved a glass of the this wine to drink the next day with some homemade crunch wrap supreme and it complimented the spicy and savory Mexican food so well. I’m certain this wine would go great with just about any type of food.

Popped the cork, which was in good condition, poured a bit (nice dark red color) sweet fruits on the nose. First taste: Very nice, round mouth feel. Not angular like some CF can be. Layered tastes I can’t quite lay a descriptor on, but far from one dimensional. DW: calls it complex. At lunchtime (for science) retested and no deterioration after the night on the counter w air extracted. More tastes of sweet red fruits, little strawberry, little raspberry. Maybe a hint of hay.
Very tempting offer. In my cart as I cogitate on storage space.

This forum may need a hearse. Someone please check the rats for signs of life.
Pretty decent ratings on Vivino, especially for this price, but not many reviews for this particular vintage.
