The Iliad, our white RhƓne-style blend, begins with a bright perfume of honeysuckle and acacia flowers and continues its epic tale with undertones of sandalwood and herbs.
With good acidity, concentration, and balance, The Iliad boasts of flavors of apricot and a hint of citrus. The long, clean finish offers a structured minerality with a hint of tannin and cream.

Miner is a dynamic family-owned winery tucked along the eastern hills of the Oakville appellation in the heart of Napa Valley. Founded in 1998 by Dave and Emily Miner, Miner Family Winery crafts reserve-style wines by sourcing fruit from Napa Valley and other specially selected California vineyards.
Our winemaking team uses a combination of old world winemaking techniques and modern technology to make wines that reflect the unique characteristics of individual vineyards or āterroirā where specific varietals grow best. This fusion of superb vineyard sites and thoughtful winemaking allows Miner to deliver elegant, expressive wines.
We have sought and secured a number of vineyard sites, but only those allowing complete farming control. It is this level of detail and control, from vine to wine, that ensures a wineās consistency and quality. Our relationships with these owners and farmers are paramount to all we do. Each wine is crafted in a style to encapsulate the distinctive elements and the indelible fingerprints of their respective vineyards. This combination of excellent vineyard sites along with passionate and thoughtful winemaking provides the necessary components for creating profoundly joyful wines.

2019 Miner The Iliad Napa Valley White Wine - $40 = 22.21%
@klezman@tercerowines Actually looking at the previous offer, the front label on the 2018 says California White Wine, both in the offer bottle shot and in rattage pic. Does not say Napa Valley White
Rattage no banner, device challenged at the moment. I know Iām better at copy paste than I am at having my own opinionsā¦but here we goā¦ha! UPS had a little weather delay and I didnāt get my hands on this until yesterday afternoon. I do not drink a lot of white Rhone blends domestic or otherwise but I find they can present themselves in very different ways. This is definitely in the leaner citrus end of the spectrum. Citrus plays a larger role than suggested above, my humble, along with a bit of melon, my lovely bride going with grapefruit. A bit of a round mouthfeel as expected but low key that just lends a nice smoothness, no oily component. Good mineral/good acidity. Overall well put together but subtle. Still alive and well as far as drinking window. My bride also thought a little initial heat up front that dissipated quickly. Dinner, a small pot roast, was already set but tweaked it a bit to maybe like the wine. Braised the beef in homemade chicken stock and a can of cream of celery soup, threw in a few carrots, some celery and onion, a bundle of fresh herbs. The braise met a stick blender and became a nice creamy veggie based gravy. Side was roasted/caramelized carrot, parsnip, red onion, potato, garlic. The wine liked it all very much. I figured a $12 offer would be a great value. I also see itās $20 a box less than the previous offer. Nice wine.
@kaolis Ok so yesterday and today were kind of crazy days, I was a bit distracted. There was a good 1/3 maybe 1/2 of the bottle left last night, didnāt spend as much time with it as I might usually. Put the cork back in and into the fridge it went. Sipping on now after warming up a tad. Itās more expressive, a little waxier, a little rounder, a little more aromatic. Not as subtle as I initially reported but still not overblown in any manner, Iāll stand by my initial comments, well because that is how it tasted yesterday. Foursie to SC
We had an unfortunate confluence of LabRat and Dry January. Like Kaolis our bottle arrived late yesterday, and we were not able to line up any guest-tasters. I suggested to my wife that we do a sip-n-spit, but she said the temptation would be too great.
Sorry to Casemates and the winery for letting you down; this is going to be an aspirational review based on the previous offering, other online reviews, and my own personal excitement.
I LOVE a good Rhone-style white, and Iām very excited to try this blend in about three weeks. Iām imagining a Mediterranean dish of chicken thighs braised with onions, green olives, and tomatoes. A dry white wine should pair perfectly, cutting through the fat and the salty brine of green olives with its minerality. Previous reviews praise the citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon, and my mouth is already watering. We can all appreciate well made wine with a nice balance of acid, mineral, and as some described, a sweet note of honeysuckle. Add to that a silky mouthfeel with just a little oak and vanilla, and itās sure to please.
In conclusionā¦ itās cold outside, and this will arrive just before the weather turns. Thatāll give you enough time to enjoy the first half of a case with winter comfort food, and then use the second half to keep you cool under warm spring breezes.

@ilCesare It seems strange that no CM purchases appear on the previous offer CT link, and total bottles are under 200.

Hoping the winery pops in but the front label says āCalifornia White Wineā whereas the 2018 version said Napa Vakley White Wine on the front . . .
@tercerowines Good catch. The specs above say:
Appellation: Napa Valley
Vineyards: Stagecoach Vineyard, Naggiar Vineyard, Sierra Foothills, Steinbeck Vineyard, Paso Robles
Assuming the vineyards are accurate we know why itās California appellation!

Hopefully the edit to California will stick; thanks all
