Made some 'cello today. Of course it’s been marinating for months, and also we did taste it.
About a liter and a half of:
Limoncello, Orangecello and Blood Orange & Mandarin…cello.
2015 Bertani Amarone della Valpolicella.
Not impressed at first, but an hour later with food…
The basil has been phenomenal this year, and makes
a darn good Pesto Pizza.
@rjquillin It is…I’ve only purchased the '21 chards, old vine and young vine. Liked both enough to re-order both, a nod to the young vine for me, the old vine for my lovely bride. My humble this is in a fine spot now but I’m sure I’ll see a few of these pop up here in 10 years when you forgot you had them…ha! Need to try some reds, and she’s a hoot, happy to toss a dollar or two her way.
Taco night. Unfortunately the power went out in the middle of preparing dinner. At least we are enjoying some tasty wine while waiting for it to be restored.
@kawichris650 I recall customs in Japan, I brought a case with a value well north of $500, how the agent kept apologizing for the amount of the tariff/tax; it was, iirc, perhaps all of $10~15.
A little WineSmith Malbec on the deck, as the Goodyear blimp floats overhead. We are fairly close to the hangar location, so blimp sightings are not unusual, but they don’t usually fly directly over our house!
On a Spanish budget this evening
2016 Bodegas Campillo Rioja Crianza
2018 Bodegas La Tonada Rioja Camino del Monte Crianza
Italian sausage, fried taters, okra and mustard
It does here! Wearing long sleeves, Pool temp has dropped from 80 to 68, leaves are turning color.

@FritzCat always wanted to try my hand at limoncello
@kaolis It’s easy…just do it! Turns out plain lemon is the best tasting.
Nope, 100 here today. Summer saved all the high temps for the last week of August and Labor Day weekend.
Just enjoying a nice cup of coffee this morning, perfect for getting the day started!

It’s been absolutely gorgeous our neck of the woods Wisconsin way, sunny, around 50 in the morn, mid 70’s day…about to change…
September was ribs, smoker then finished on the grill…
zin with blt’s, new batch of bacon, a Sam’s Club belly, not bad at all
finally got into Morgan Ranch tenderloin tips, indeed they are tasty…
(sorry for bandwidth hogging)
@kaolis you been busy
Last night, our last bottle of 2009 Louis Latour Chardonnay, with steak & chicken stir-fry. Today, my first time making a Moscow Mule.
@chipgreen Proper barware and everything! I love a good Mule.

With Sloppy Joes, onion rings and beans of green.
@chipgreen interesting combo…
and you def have some interesting wines your cellar, I’m just not that disciplined hanging on to stuff
Friday carry out…
@kaolis haven’t opened any of hers yet, and don’t have that one. Tasty?

Now for something completely different.

@msten I remember their 2016 Gratitude
Mourvèdre Blend, lovely bottle

@chipgreen Still have any of the 2004 as well?
@rjquillin
The 2004 Syrah is long gone. Still have some '10 Syrah and “Arcturus” blend.
@CorTot How is this one? My notes from…no date…(Needs time. High acid, needs steak. Decant!()
Good morning there in the states, but good evening here from Thailand.
They don’t drink much sparkling wine here. I kid you not… when I gently popped the cork, every head in the restaurant still turned haha.
@kawichris650 seems you’re visiting?
Did you pack some of your own bottles?
I did when I went to Japan
@rjquillin
Correct. I brought the Gruet and Rosato.
This is my first time in Asia. My trip was Minneapolis to Denver, Denver to Tokyo, and Tokyo to Bangkok
I would/should have brought more, but I was concerned about bottles getting heavily taxed or confiscated all together.

When the wine runs out, you transition to something stronger.

@kawichris650 looks like trouble…ha!

@chipgreen About all I get flying overhead around here (central MO) are the A-10s flying out of Whiteman AFB over the Lake of the Ozarks.
I need to pay more attention. With leftover ribs I was looking for a Syrah, and not really reading the label, I pulled this “Sirah”
further reading my notes, I see this is claimed to be relabeled

2006 Quixote Petite Sirah
Yup, looks to be the same capsule/closure.
Whatever it is/was, it was good with the ribs and ready to drink.
@rjquillin you’ve still got some of those? Wow!
That was a great deal. Too bad TJ’s doesn’t often have wines like that any more.
@klezman @rjquillin Nice…I knew that closure graphic looked familiar
@CorTot new UC?
